No. You don't need notes, a script, or the right words. The guided interview asks one question at a time, and you simply speak from where you are. You can pause between questions, skip any question, re-record anything, and come back as many times as you like.

Most people record their first chapter in about 20 minutes. Most come back to add more. There's no deadline, no time limit on any answer, and nothing locks until you choose to seal it.

No — never. We will never listen to, transcribe, or analyze what you record. Not one word. Your recordings belong to the people you named, and no one else. This promise is written into our Chronicle Covenant.

No. Your Keeper protects and manages your Chronicle — they make sure it reaches the right people at the right time — but they cannot listen to what's inside. The seal is real.

We never delete recordings due to inactivity, missed payments, or the passage of time. Once sealed, your voice is protected. Full stop.

You may export your recordings at any time — they are yours. Your Chronicle is stored redundantly, and our commitment is that no family ever loses a sealed voice. We built this company because of what a saved voice means; protecting yours is the entire point.

Every recording is written to two independent storage vaults at the same moment — a primary and a backup — and we verify both writes before we consider your voice safe. If either copy ever fails to land, our team is alerted immediately. Before we open to the public, a third copy will live with a completely separate company, in cold storage, so that no single provider's failure — or even two — could ever cost a family a voice.

Your recordings are encrypted in transit and at rest, playback requires verified sign-in as the Chronicle's owner, and no recording is ever publicly reachable by URL. We treat your Chronicle as an irreplaceable archive — because that's what it is. And we'll be honest with you the way we'd want a company to be honest with us: security is never "finished." An independent security review is part of our launch commitments, and our custody promises are published where you can read them, not buried in fine print.

No Chronicle is ever released on one person's word. A release requires two living voices — the Keeper who begins it and a second person who confirms it — with a waiting window in between, during which the Author is contacted directly and any response stops everything. When timing matters, such as funeral traditions that gather families within a day or two, confirmation from a licensed funeral home can serve as that second voice — verified through the funeral home's own published contact information, never through a number someone hands us. Careful by design, human at every step.

And here is a promise we've made permanent: a family in grief is always answered by a human being. Questions can wait for morning; grief cannot, and no family navigating a loss will ever be handed to a machine.

You choose the moments — a birthday, a graduation, a wedding day, or simply "whenever they need me." Your Keeper helps ensure everything reaches the right hands. Milestone messages arrive at the moments you chose; some messages, like "whenever they need me," are always available to the person you recorded them for.

It's the one that says everything — held safely until your family needs it most. It's also completely optional, and never required to seal your Chronicle. Many people aren't ready to record it on their first visit. It will be there whenever you are.

Your Keeper is the person you trust to protect your Chronicle — often a spouse, an adult child, or a close friend. You name them during your Chronicle, and they help make sure your recordings reach the right people at the right moments. They can manage delivery, but they can never listen.

No. We are not a bank, investment advisor, or broker-dealer, and we never touch funds. When family members give toward a child's future through a Living Chronicle, they use gifting links that go directly to the financial institution holding the account. The voice comes through us; the money never does.

Yes — and families do this all the time. The Chronicle itself needs no SSN at all: you can start recording for your child before they're even born. On the gifting side, 529 plans do require the beneficiary's SSN — so families commonly open the account with a parent as the initial beneficiary, then transfer it to the child once their SSN arrives. That's a standard, tax-free change under 529 rules. The voice and the savings can both start on day one. (Plan mechanics vary — your plan provider or financial professional can walk you through the specifics. We never touch or manage the money side.)

Yes — you can add photos to your family history recordings. A face to go with the memory, a place, a moment. We ask that photos be personal memories only — never documents, IDs, or anything containing sensitive information. Your Chronicle is a memory, not a filing cabinet.
